Featured Sponsor Interview | Oh How Darling5:00 PM
Hi Guys! I'm excited to introduce to you my featured sponsor for this month, Rosie of Oh How Darling! She has a lovely little blog and is here to tell us a little more about herself! The featured spot for March is still up for grabs so if you'd like to be our next lovely sponsor, reserve your space here!
Hello! I'm Rosie, a 24 year old from near Manchester, England. I am a recent maths graduate and aspiring writer/journalist currently taking a year to re-centre myself after university! This year I have been working in retail, taking writing modules at the Open University, tutoring students in maths and physics, and have just recently joined Kate's over at flapperdoodle, taking over the role of all things social media related. In short, I have been spending some time enjoying life and discovering who I am and where I want to be!
I have been blogging for about a year now, and started over at 'such stuff as dreams are made on'. Just before Christmas, however, I had to move blog homes due to a personal situation which arose, and have been blogging at 'oh, how darling!' ever since. It's a blog about life, inspiration, personal style, crafts, beauty, writing and pretty things!
What are 5 words to describe yourself?
This is a tough question, but you're in luck! Last year my family were all out in Spain for the summer, and one night we decided to describe each person in three words. Ok so I have two more to figure out myself, but it was quite interesting to see what words others' chose! I was told I am suprising, resilient and driven; I would like to add talkative and forgiving to the list too : )
What made you want to join the blogging community?I have always journaled in some form, and about 18months ago my depression was at an all time low, but I had to power on through to the end of my degree, so my writing became the thing that literally kept me going through the day for a while. I stumbled across Kaelah's blog by chance one day, and the rest, as they say, is history! It sounds a bit bizarre, but blogging actually helped pull myself out of depression; it gave me reason to find happy and positive things in my life again. I wanted to be a part of this amazing and inspiring community.
What are your favorite things to blog about?
I love to blog about so many different things, which is why my blog is predominantly a lifestyle blog I guess. My favourite favourite topics are thoughts/musings/ramblings, personal style; beauty; crafts; knitting; and more recently photography. A lot of my favourite ever posts are actually on my old blog, since I have only been over at oh, how darling! for a few months, but posts worth checking out are:
When you're not blogging, what are you doing?
I'm drinking copious cups of tea, writing, reading, taking bubble baths, wearing too much eye make up, running, collecting buttons, knitting, obsessing over gothic literature, playing the piano, going for long walks, shopping for shoes or watching the big bang theory!
What inspires you?I mainly draw inspiration from other bloggers; going for long walks with no one for company but myself (not even my iPod); setting goals and challenges; reading; dreaming; writing; drawing; taking baths. Basically anything which means my mind is free to wander! I find new pretty notebooks and reading quotes inspiring too!I actually did a blog post on this a few weeks ago, which you can find here.
If there was one piece of advice you could offer new bloggers out there, what would it be?
Don't try to define your blog too early on. Just write for yourself, don't pigeon hole or categorize. Let yourself, your writing and your voice be free, and only then will you find focus.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Oh gosh that's the million dollar question isn't it? Well in 5 years I see myself having written my first book, being a freelance journalist, and generally being in a place where I'm more comfortable and content with myself. I'll be 29 by then, and apparently your 20s are all about self discovery, so here's hoping I'll have discovered myself by then!! Oh and having found 'the one' would be great by then too!
Favorite blog reads?
I have so many! These are my absolute daily reads though:
a beautiful mess, busy bee lauren, laughing with broken eyes, little chief honeybee, love elycia, scathingly brilliant, the dainty squid, wish wish wish
If you could only listen to one song on repeat, what would it be?
Wow another really tricky question. I have so many favourite songs! If I could only have one song on repeat though, I guess it would be 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' by Simon and Garfunkel. Not only is it a truly beautiful song, but we sang an arrangement of it in our school choir during my final year, so it brings back a lot of fond memories too.
